Fatigue Performance of Recycled Asphalt Mixtures: Viscoelastic Continuum Damage Approach and Cost Analysis

چکیده
This study aims to evaluate the fatigue phenomenon in recycled hot asphalt mixture for an surface layer. Eight mixtures were evaluated laboratory, and samples divided into two major groups: four containing neat binder RAP from source 1 (RAP with binder) SBS-modified 2 binder). The levels of incorporation 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% relation total weight mixtures. followed Marshall mix design methodology. results indicate that polymer-modified presented better performance, whereas addition slightly decreased resistance cracking. In terms economic analysis, use RAP, all cases, leads a reduction production costs due aggregate added, savings up 14.1% case SBS binder. When evaluating impact inserting its relationship performance long term, it can be observed type added impacts results: present gains within acceptable quality parameters insertion; binder, percentage 10% is advantageous.

Microstructural Analysis and Rheological Modeling of Asphalt Mixtures Containing Recycled Asphalt Materials
The use of recycled materials in pavement construction has seen, over the years, a significant increase closely associated with substantial economic and environmental benefits. During the past decades, many transportation agencies have evaluated the effect of adding Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP), and, more recently, Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS) on the performance of asphalt pavement, whil...

The asphalt paving industries are faced with two major problems. These two important challenges are generated with an increase in demand for environmentally friendly paving mixtures and the problem of rapidly rising raw materials. Recycling of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is a critical necessity to save precious aggregates and reduce the use of costly bitumen. Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) technol...

Received: June 06, 2017 Revised: July 05, 2017 Accepted: July 19, 2017 Abstract: Introduction: The use of polymer wastes in pavement as road is an increasing trend in the road construction sector. Those new pavements reduce the amount of solid waste disposed into landfills and provide more sustainable construction due to the use of in-situ materials. Polyurethane foam waste is a thermostable po...
متن کاملAging effects on recycled WMA porous asphalt mixtures
Nowadays, the use of reclaimed asphalt pavements (RAP) is often combined with Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) technologies with several benefits in terms of environment, cost and mechanical performance. Concerns still exist related to in-service and aging characteristics of warm recycled mixtures since WMA technologies have been developed over the last decade and hence long term performance data are not...
متن کاملEnvironmental Impacts of Producing Asphalt Mixtures with Varying Degrees of Recycled Asphalt Materials
The environmental impacts of producing asphalt mixtures with different percentages of asphalt binder replacement (ABR) are assessed using the technique of life cycle assessment (LCA). In this paper, only the material production phase of the pavement life cycle is considered. To improve the quality of the LCA, a regionalized life cycle inventory (LCI) database for the Northern Illinois region is...
